The Bach Flowers
Remedies

Feel good. Feel Bach!

What in the world is going on? / Dafna Parf
You get up in the morning without the kind assistance of your alarm clock, a smile on your face for no apparent reason. You think about the day ahead and anticipate it full of energy. Although many tasks await you, you take your time. You’re in the mood to pamper yourself with little indulgences: a sunny-side-up egg that’s not broken, two slices of toast, and fresh coffee that fills the kitchen with a pleasant aroma and makes you feel content. A glance at the newspaper tells you that today’s weather will be beautiful. Your dog is pleased that you’re taking him on a walk, and it warms your heart…
Outdoors, a pleasant breeze carries with it the scent of autumn. The birds are chirping and the guy across the street working in his garden greets you with a “Good morning” and a smile. Despite the fact that he’s lived here forever, you feel like you’re noticing him for the first time. You stop to chat with him and discover that he’s quite nice. He agrees to come over tomorrow to straighten up your own incorrigible garden.
You know that it’s just another day and that you still face another long day of work with no pleasant surprises; you’re not in love, and nothing special happened last night, or at least nothing that you recall.
The street is full of activity, the sun is warm, the grass smells fresh. You start the car and notice that you have a full tank of gas; you’re in no hurry. A song you like is playing on the radio, one you haven’t heard in quite a while. Suddenly you’re excited: the song, the feeling, the open road ahead, no one’s honking. You roll down the windows and sing along with the radio; the chilly air doesn’t even make you cold.
You get to work. The receptionist, to whom you’ve been attracted forever, suddenly compliments you on your appearance. It turns out that your boss isn’t coming in today, so you have time to chat with the receptionist. In a sudden surge of bravery, you decide to ask her out for a drink after work. You’ve been wanting to for a long time, but you just couldn’t get up the nerve, yet today—just another day and you’re still just you—you pull it off with elegance. And as if she’s just been waiting for this moment, she says yes.
You sit down at your desk and stretch out, feeling great. You face a stack of papers that’s been growing higher by the day. Looking out the window—which could stand a good cleaning—you see people in a hurry, rushing. Your phone starts ringing, yet you’re not hassled—you don’t even bother answering. You sip your second cup of coffee and smile to yourself. You’re coworker looks at you like you’re a little crazy and asks if everything is all right. “Everything’s great,” you reply, and secretly wonder: What in the world is going on?
